Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and adaptable Finance Manager to oversee financial operations for the Company. Working alongside the CEO, this exciting position will form part of our senior management team and will take an active role in the strategic leadership of the Company. This role will ensure day to day financial functions are run efficiently, with accuracy and attention to detail; as well as overseeing future investment rounds, financial forecasting and strategic planning to help guide the Company’s future growth.

We see this role as being full time, although this is negotiable. Ideally, we would like this role to be based in either Dundee or Edinburgh, to allow for regular interaction with the teams responsible for operations, product management, business development, sales and marketing. As the business expands we see this role as a stepping stone to a future CFO position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

The role will include the following duties, experience in these is essential to the job:

  • overseeing day-to-day finance management including management accounts, balance sheet and account reconciliations, purchase ledger, accounts payable management, managing insurance policies;
  • preparation and analysis of business forecasts and projections;
  • supporting business planning process and wider strategic plan;
  • assisting in decision making and implementation of the strategic goals of the business;
  • working with the CEO to build finance models for the business to facilitate more accurate project profitability analysis;
  • taking responsibility for the delivery of timely management information, including profit and loss statements and business line Board reports on a monthly and quarterly basis;
  • providing an insight into business performance to the senior management team;
  • working with programme management to track work in progress;
  • conducting regular reviews of efficiencies and identifying process improvements; and
  • preparing submissions to HMRC for PAYE, VAT, Intrastat.

Required Skills & Experience

The following skills and experience are a ‘must have’ in this role:

  • experience in Financial Management with 3+ years of combined accounting and finance experience in a commercial environment;
  • excellent accounting software user skills;
  • good time-management and organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and plan workflow;
  • the ability work to strict reporting deadlines;
  • strong verbal and written communication skills, both for internal and external, customer facing interactions;
  • thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures;
  • advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with the ability to understand complex data; and
  • must be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.
