1. The Promoter: Bright Ascension Ltd., a company incorporated under the Companies Acts (Company No: SC407753) and having its registered office at 1 Laurel Bank, Dundee, DD36JA.
  2. The Competition: the competition is for a prize in the form of sponsorship of up to three academic satellite mission projects each academic year whereby the entrant must provide information about the project/mission via the application form either by email or the Promoter’s website.
  3. The Winner: each of the three entrants selected by the Promoter’s panel of judges are defined as winners.
  4. If selected the Promoter will provide a Flight Software  licence and Mission Control Software licence to each of the chosen three entrants free of charge for a period of 3 years starting at the delivery date of the software.   5. How to enter:
    1. The application process is currently closed. New dates will be announced separately on our website and social channels.
    2. All entries should be received by the Promoter by the date specified. All entries received after that time will be automatically disqualified.
    3. The application can be submitted either through the Promoter’s website (https://brightascension.com/bright-start-sponsorship-application/) or by requesting, completing and submitting the application form via email: enquiries@brightascension.com
    4. The promotor will not accept entries that are incomplete, illegible, altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with.
    5. The promotor will not accept responsibility for equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind resulting in failure to submit entries.
    6. By submitting your application form, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
    7. The entries will be studied by a panel of three reviewers and the decision will be made based on internal criteria (available on request) following commercial interests of the Promoter. The decision of the panel (acting reasonably) will be final.
    8. The decision will be made and announced on the website and social channels.
    9. The Promoter will make all reasonable efforts to contact the Winner. If the Winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their sponsorship within twenty-one calendar days of the decision, the Promoter reserves the right to offer the sponsorship to the next eligible entrant selected from the correct entries that were received before the closing date.
  6. Eligibility:
    1. The competition is open to current faculty, staff, and/or students at a degree-granting academic institution at any geographic location across the world.
    2. Sponsored licences are subject to the Bright Ascension General Terms and Conditions and Academic Licence Terms and Conditions and are restricted to academic use only. Use of the licences for commercial purposes is forbidden. Any user of an academic licence must be faculty, staff, or student at a degree-granting academic institution. Infringing these conditions will lead to the suspension of the licences that have been provided.
    3. By entering the competition, you confirm your eligibility. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition, as well as proof of intent. Examples of proof include, but are not limited, a confirmation or a Letter of Reference, signed by the Project Lead or Course Leader or any other relevant supervisor, who can be identified as a member of staff.
  7. Sponsorship:
    1. Sponsorship includes an Academic Flight Licence provided free of charge, which corresponds to a software bundle comprising one edition of the promotor’s Flight Software licence and one edition of the promotor’s Mission Control Software licence, valid for a duration of 3 calendar years from the date of licence delivery.
    2. An Academic licence does not include individual support and training. However, it offers access to shared training sessions and member-exclusive forum for mutual support.
    3. Sponsorship is not negotiable or transferable.
    4. The Promoter will contact the Winner personally as soon as practicable after the decision is made using the contact details provided on the entrant’s application form. The Winner will also be announced on the Promoter’s social media channels and/or the website.
    5. The promotor may contact Project Lead or Course Leader or any other relevant supervisor, using the contact details provided by the entrant in the application form during the selection process and prior to the judges’ decision to discuss the mission further or clarify details.
    6. Please allow at least twenty-one business days for delivery of the academic licences.
  8. Promotional activities:
    1. By accepting sponsorship, the Winner agrees to participate in promotional, advertising and PR activities, where appropriate, led by the Promoter. This may include but is not limited to: joint press releases and news stories, advertorials, editorials, live web events, social media activities, case studies and testimonials, etc.
    2. If the Winner objects to participating in promotional activities, the Promoter reserves the right to revoke provided licences and select another Winner.
    3. An appropriate contact must be provided within the Winner’s team to liaise with the Promoter and handle promotional activities, if and when necessary.
  1. Limitation of liability: Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the Winner or accept any liability for any loss, and/or damage arising in relation to participation in the competition.
  2. Data protection:
    1. The Promoter will only process your personal information as set out in the Promoter’s Data Protection Policy.
    2. To comply with advertising standard rules, the Winner will be announced on the Promoter’s social media channels and the website.
  3. General
    1. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, and/or any of the information provided by the entrant in the application form transpires to be inaccurate or untrue, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude the entrant from participating in the competition.
    2. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter’s Licence Agreement, and/or any of the information provided by the Winner transpires to be inaccurate or untrue, the Promoter reserve the right to cancel the Winner’s Licences at its sole discretion.
    3. The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
    4. The Promoter shall not be liable to perform any of our obligations under the Competition or in respect of the Prizes where the Promoter is unable to do so as a result of unforeseen circumstances or circumstances beyond reasonable control.
    5. The Promoter recognises that if any of the entrant’s intellectual property needs to be disclosed in the application, it should remain with the entrant. However, the Promoter reserves the right to use intellectual property for promotional purposes only if the entrant wins the competition.
    6. These General Terms (and any Specific Terms) shall be construed in accordance with and governed by the Scots Law.
