Bright Ascension takes on charity challenge to support The Yard

Taking on the Combined Miles Challenge

We have proudly launched the Workplace Combined Miles Challenge to raise funds for The Yard, a Scottish charity dedicated to creating safe and inclusive spaces for disabled children, young people, and their families to play, connect, and grow together.

Founded in 1986, The Yard provides essential family support, respite care, school services, and community-building opportunities through its centres across Scotland. The charity’s work has a profound impact on the lives of families who rely on its unique approach to inclusive play and support.

Our Combined Miles Challenge brings together the entire Bright Ascension team in a friendly, collaborative effort to “travel into orbit” by covering as much distance as possible through walking, running, swimming, cycling or even lifting weights. The challenge runs up to our company-wide conference on 27 November 2025, symbolically connecting our work in space software to a mission that supports children and families here on Earth.

Our progress so far

Just four weeks into the challenge, our team has already covered an impressive 1,474 km and, for those contributing through strength training, lifted a combined payload of 70,095 kg! Each kilometre — and each kilogram — represents our collective commitment to making a positive difference beyond the workplace.
